The FX series is facing criticism over its classification as a comedy, with many saying it should be classified as a drama.

At the ceremony on September 15, Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach won the lead and supporting acting comedy awards.

Laraine Newman, a past SNL cast member and mother of 'Hacks' actress Hannah Einbinder, also believes the show leans more towards the drama genre.

"Every time I think about The Bear being in the comedy category for the Emmys I can feel an ulcer developing," the comedian wrote on social media.

Even Emmys host Eugene Levy said in his introduction of 'The Bear': "Now, I love the show. And I know some of you might be expecting us to make a joke about whether 'The Bear' is really a comedy. But in the true spirit of 'The Bear', we will not be making any jokes."

One commenter wrote on Reddit: "Every time I hear this show referred to as a comedy, I’m compelled to ask, 'What’s the funniest single scene you can think of in this show?'"
