Donald Trump’s approval rating has taken a nosedive as he marks 100 days in office Tuesday. 

The U.S. president has the lowest ratings for a new presidential term since polls began during World War II, according to one survey. 

On Sunday, an array of polls assessing Trump’s performance were released by The New York Times, CNN, NBC, Fox News, The Washington Post, ABC, and CBS, among others.

    The results show that Trump’s approval ratings on key issues such as inflation, tariffs, and foreign policy have dropped. 

    A Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll found that 39% of people approved of his overall job performance, while 55% disapproved. 

    The rating was down from a 45% approval rate in February, the poll showed, and was also a drop from Trump’s first term, which was 42%.

    It is the lowest approval rating for any president within the first 100 days since polling began, compared to 52% for Joe Biden, 50% for Barack Obama’s second term, and 47% for George W. Bush’s second term.

    Franklin D. Roosevelt’s third-term approval in 1940 was 68%, due to a perceived strong leadership during World War II, which united the nation and reinforced public trust in him.

    Foreign policy was another issue voters were not pleased with; 61% of people disapproved of how Trump was handling U.S. relations with other countries.

    A Fox News survey found that 38% approved of Trump’s handling of the economy, 33% approved of his handling of inflation, and 33% approved of his approach to tariffs.

    On foreign policy, 40% of people approved of Trump’s performance, while 54% of people disapproved. 

    The same survey put his overall job performance at 44%.

    Data from TheNew York Times said 36% of registered voters felt that Trump’s policies had hurt them personally. 

    Meanwhile, 50% said Trump had made the economy “worse” since taking office, compared to only 21% who felt he had made it better. Some 45% strongly opposed tariffs.

    Only 35% of voters approved of the way Trump had handled the war between Russia and Ukraine

    It comes after Trump met Zelenskyy at the Vatican on Saturday as both leaders attended the funeral of Pope Francis.

    The 15-minute meeting was described as “very productive” by the White House, and Zelenskyy said it had the “potential to become historic.”

    The New York Times put overall approval ratings at 42%.

    Findings from a CBS/YouGov poll echoed the other surveys, with 62% of people stating Trump had put too much focus on tariffs.

    Approval of Trump’s handling of the economy was 42% in the survey, and his handling of inflation was 38%.

    The president fared higher in areas such as border security, immigration, and his deportation program, with 49% approving of his handling of immigration.

    In response to the new data, Trump said the “pollster” had gotten him wrong for years, and lashed out at media mogul Rupert Murdoch.

    “Rupert Murdoch has told me for years that he is going to get rid of his FoxNews, Trump Hating, Fake Pollster, but he has never done so,” he said on Truth Social.

    “This ‘pollster’ has gotten me, and MAGA, wrong for years. Also, and while he’s at it, he should start making changes at the China Loving Wall Street Journal. It sucks!!!”

    The new polls come amid a trade war with China and sweeping tariffs imposed on imported U.S. goods. 

    Trump set a 145% tariff on Chinese goods, while setting lower tariffs on other countries.

    In response, China placed a 125% tariff on U.S. imports and has stopped exports on key goods, such as the delivery of several Boeing aircraft in a deal worth billions of dollars. 

    There is a baseline tariff of 10% on almost all foreign goods imported to the U.S. 

    To mark 100 days of his second term, Trump is holding a rally in Macomb County, Michigan, Tuesday.
